VT-86PP power amplifier
This Chinese made amplifier was brought in for 6V6 tubes evaluation. It works great, measures perfectly flat from 20Hz to 30kHz (±0dB). I guess specifications were designed to cover variations in production. Can't vouch for other units, but this one is perfectly stable within full frequency range. It has about 30 hrs of operation, 10 of which on my bench checking specified parameters and stability.
Did I mention the headphones output? Did not have any problems driving 32 ohm Grados nor 300 ohm Sennheisers.
Nominal output is 8 ohms, but I had no problems driving 6 ohms speakers. I've seen this amplifier advertised as outputting 20W....no way!. Measured output power at the onset of clipping is 11.6W, if your speakers are 90dB or more, you will have no problems, with lower sensitivity speakers you may not be able to have it run very loud, but it all depends on your listening habits, room size....
As the pictures below show, the build quality is high and layout is simple - this unit will be easy to modify for increased detail and sparkle in the high range. Replacing signal tubes with brand name NOS will yield the biggest improvement, but if you're inclined to dig inside, bypassing power supply electrolytic capacitors with good quality film caps and replacing coupling film capacitors with top brands (dare I say paper in oil?) should bring this one step closer to perfection.
First thing I would suggest - don't do anything - just hook up this unit into your system, let it break in and then decide if there is anything more that you may want. You may easily find that no changes are required at all.

Inside, the build is clean, nicely organized point-to-point wiring, all hand made with oversized power transformer.
Electrolytic capacitors are Nichicon and Rubycon, high quality brand names, with adequate voltage rating fro 120V mains operation.
ALPS volume control is smooth and without any noise.

Radii MNP-01 active preamplifier
This little gem was built and tested by ENG Vista as part of the original plan to offer this inexpensive outperformer as a DIY kit. Well, turns out that the assembly is pretty involved and it may not be the best suited for a general DIY market. Also, kit price wouldn't be significantly lower than the price of a fully assembled and tested unit, covered by 1 year warranty, so the kit idea was abandoned and this perfect prototype is now on the market.
